Iowa State Fair Speedway Victory to Farren

After four weeks of bad luck and mechanical problems, Dave Farren Sr., who has won more IMCA modified races than any other driver, finally picked up his first win of the year at the Iowa State Fair Speedway. For the second time this year, Steve Jackson (IMCA stock car) and Craig Jacobs (IMCA late model) won their respective features. Tim St. Arnold won the sprint car feature and the IMCA hobby stock winners were Larry Embrey and Rick Gladson.
After two caution stops on the first lap, Dave Farren Sr. found that he had been joined on the front row by fellow former IMCA modified national champion Danny Wallace. Farren was able to launched into the lead at the drop of the green and was able to hold off Wallace who stayed close and was unable to pass Farren. Finishing third was Eric Lundstrum with Jeff Gorman fourth. After the race, Dave Farren Jr. claimed the engine of Lundstrum.
In the IMCA late model feature, Loren Hudson led the first five laps, He could not escape the charge of Craig Jacobs who passed Hudson after two laps of side-by-side racing. Jacobs was able to hold off Billy Allen for the victory. Darrell DeFrance finished third and Nick Houseman was fourth.
Tim St. Arnold led all 18 laps of the sprint car feature. Finishing second was Josh Higday, third Larry Pinegar, and Matt Moro was fourth.
In the IMCA stock car feature, Steve Jackson passed David Mongar halfway in the race to claim the checkered first. finishing second was Don Killen, third Mark Elliott, and Maynard Davis III was fourth.
Larry Embrey and Rick Gladson IMCA hobby stocks were flag-to-flag winners. finishing behind Embrey were Mike Whitehead, Mark Chance, and John Yaw. The finishers behind Gladson were Keith Williamson, Adam Hagen, and Rusty Groves.
Racing in all classes continues next Friday with hot laps at 6:15 and racing at 7:00 P.M.
