Iowa State Fair:
Droud, Jacobs, George, Hunnell, Alexander & Brown

The hot muggy day turned into a great evening of racing at the Iowa State 
Fair Speedway Friday night.  Craig Jacobs continued his dominance of IMCA 
late models at the track with his fourth victory in the seven outings for the 
late models.  Newcomer Dan Droud Jr. won the 360 sprint car feature, Brian 
George picked up the checkered for the IMCA modifieds, John Hunnell won in 
his IMCA stock car, and IMCA hobby stock features were won by Jim Alexander 
and Kirk Brown.

In the IMCA late model feature, Todd Johnson jumped into the lead from the 
pole position and was able to withstand the challenge of Randy Faux.  
However, Craig Jacobs, who o started in the fifth row, weaved through the 
field and passed Johnson on lap 12 of the 18 lap feature.  Jacobs maintained 
a large victory margin over Johnson in second, Faux in third, and Darrell 
DeFrance in fourth.

Dan Droud Jr. passed Tim St. Arnold on lap six and took the checkered first 
on the final lap, followed by St. Arnold, Matt Moro, and Doran Doty.

Brian George led the IMCA modified feature from green to checkered, with 
several yellows in between.  Dave Farren Sr. was able to move within three 
car lengths of George, but could not catch him.  Kendall Sather finished 
third and Tim Folkerts fourth.

The caution-plagued IMCA stock car main ended after only eight of the 
scheduled 15 laps due to the time limits on races.  John Hunnell was in the 
lead when the yellow-checkered was waived and was followed by David Cirksena, 
Mark Elliott, and Steve Jackson.

The first IMCA hobby stock featured ended after six laps as the time limit 
expired.  Jim Alexander won followed by Steve Curtis, Mark Chance, and John 
Davis.  The second A-main was won by Kirk Brown who led all ten laps.  Adam 
Hagen finished second with Scott Lowe third and Danny Gathercole fourth.

Racing in all classes continues next Friday with hot laps at 6:15 and racing 
at 7:00 P.M.
