Doty, Logue, Killen, and Johnson Win

Des Moines, Iowa – Chris Smyser won his second straight IMCA late model feature at the Iowa State Fair Speedway Friday night. John Logue continued his dominance of the IMCA modifieds and Don Killen won again in his IMCA stock car. Doran Doty won the 360-sprint feature, Jeff Johnson won the Karl Chevrolet NDTR truck feature, and the IMCA hobby stock feature winners were Keith Williamson and John Davis.
It looked like the days of old as Joe Merryfield led lap after lap of the IMCA late model feature. Chris Smyser, who started 12th, moved through the field and passed Merryfield on the white flag lap and was first to the checkered. Merryfield finished second as Ron Cochran was third and Chris Spiecker finished fourth.
John Logue passed Dude Thompson half way through the IMCA modified feature and was able to hold off the challenge of Dave Farren for the victory. Finishing third behind Farren was Russ Gladson with Danny Wallace fourth.
Doran Doty led wire to wire to win the 360-sprint car feature with Tim St. Arnold finishing second, Mark Wilson third, and Steve Breazeale fourth. Kevin Walker was taken to a local hospital after rolling his car early in the race.
The IMCA stock car feature was run in thirds with Todd Fisher the early leader, Maynard Davis III the next leader, and it was Don Killen who finished in first. Jason Henry finished second with Todd Inman in third and John Logue in fourth.
For the first time this year, ten Karl Chevrolet NDTR trucks hit the track for the feature as this class continues to grow. Jeff Johnson won followed by Mark Fee, Mike Hoffman, and Rod Sorter.
Keith Williamson won the first IMCA hobby stock feature followed by Rick Gladson, Adam Hagen, and Mark Chance. John Davis won the second feature with John Watson, Steve Curtis and Josh Daniels trailing.
Racing in all classes continues next Friday with hot laps at 6:15 followed by racing.
